REVOLUTIONIZING HEALTHCARE: THE EVOLUTION OF ARTIFICIAL INTELLIGENCE IN HEALTHCARE SECTOR AND ITS TRANSFORMATIVE IMPACT ON THE HEALTH PROFESSION
Abstract
Artificial Intelligence (AI) is transforming healthcare by addressing persistent challenges and creating new opportunities. Though still developing, AI is already enhancing diagnostic accuracy in fields like radiology and pathology and helping predict disease risks such as cancer and cardiovascular conditions. This enables proactive planning and improves patient care, especially in resource-limited settings. AI also shows potential in drug discovery, managing infectious diseases, and reducing clinician fatigue through automation. However, ethical concerns—such as data security, confidentiality, and algorithmic bias—remain critical. Addressing these issues requires collaboration between clinicians and data scientists to ensure AI is human-centered and equitable. Understanding AI’s strengths and limitations is essential for its responsible integration into healthcare, with interdisciplinary efforts key to advancing patient-centered care.
